CHUCK WAGON BOSS
The Chuck Wagon Boss and his assistants shall serve at the discretion of the Trail Boss
Bill Started riding the Salt Grass Trail Ride in 1974 with Wagon 3, Reese Lockett's wagon, started by one of the founders of the Salt Grass Trail, Reese Lockett. Today, with Bill as Wagon boss, wagon 3 still cooks breakfast and dinner on an open fire using equipment handed down from Mr. Lockett. They also use the original wagon which has made teh ride since 1954. Prior to becoming Wagon Boss for wagon 3, Bill served as assistant wagon boss for the group from 1985 to 2000. Bill has been an active volunteer with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Breeders Greeters Committee since 1985. Bill's wife, Susan, theirson Keith, and daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Eric Lewis, also enjoy taking part in the Salt Grass Trail Ride each year.
