TRAIL BOSS

The Trail Boss presides at all meetings of the Association, The Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors. The Trail Boss is the executive officer and a member of all committees. The Trail Boss must attend all Rodeo meetings, meet with City Officials and attend functions in all the towns with which the Salt Grass Trail Ride is associated

Dickey Davis

2012 Salt Grass Trail Ride marks Dickey’s 50th year to ride this prestige ride. In addition to his duties as Trail Boss, Dickey has also serves as a Scout and Wagon Boss of the Monaville Bandits for more than thirty years. He has served as the Assistant Trail Boss for six years. In 2005 Dickey was awarded the “Top Trail Rider” of the SGT. Dickey & his wife, Sharon, have four children, Richard, Djuna, Greg & Ginger, fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Two of his grandsons, JJ & Dillon join him again this year on the ride as well as his son, Richard, now serving as Wagon Boss and continuing this family tradition. They are all proud to be a part of the Salt Grass Trail & the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo™. Dickey believes it is important to continue to educate our youth for the strength of our country. After retiring, Dickey & Sharon opened and operate a country ice house in Monaville, Texas. Dickey is proud of his years on this ride and attributes his success to the fine men who served before him such as Mr. I. H. Perry, Mr. Charlie Roberts, Mr. Bill Henry and Mr. J. D. Bird, as well as all the other past Trail Bosses.  Dickey is thankful to his family and friends for all his years of love & support.  Dickey looks forward to have another great year and safe trail ride
