Biography

The Red Dot riders joined the Salt Grass Trail Ride in 1986 as the ride's end wagon. This fun-loving group of 25 riders always shows hospitality to members of other groups. The youngest Red Dot riders are Zoey and Eli Jeager and Leonard Ray Keng has ridden the Salt Grass ride longer than any other group member.
The Red Dot's pride themselves on being very hospitable and very family oriented.
Red Dot Rider Tricia Sommerfeld, the first female Scout for the Salt Grass Trail Ride, joined the Riders in the Sky in 2005. Tricia rode the drag position at the back of the ride, where she enjoyed visiting with friends and loved ones along the trail. Tricia’s husband Otto joined her in the spring of 2011 as a Rider in the Sky. They will both be missed by the Red Dot Riders and the Salt Grass Trail Ride members. Our loss is heaven’s gain.
Through the years, Red Dot has had opportunities to move forward in the line, but has always chosen to remain the last wagon - they say it is their claim to fame - as the song says, "those vagabond Red Dot Riders bringing up the rear" of the Salt Grass Trail.
